Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo
FORMER President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has been released from the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.

She stepped out of the gates of the VMMC past 6 p.m. on Thursday, two days after the Supreme Court (SC) ordered her release from hospital detention following the dismissal of her plunder case.

A television report said Arroyo's convoy was headed to her residence in La Vista, Quezon City.

The Supreme Court, voting 11-4, decided to dismiss the plunder case against Arroyo in connection with the alleged misused of millions of funds of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Arroyo's release came after the 15-member high court signed the majority decision plus the separate opinions of four justices who dissented.

The SC served the decision to the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan on Thursday afternoon.

The former president is set to undergo an executive check up at St. Luke's in Quezon City before she will attend the first State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte.
