Barbie Hsu 'Shan Cai'
Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu and other Chinese pop stars have weighed in on the maritime dispute between China and the Philippines.

In a post on her Twitter account, Hsu, who is popular for her role as Shan Cai in the series "Meteor Garden," called for peace between the two countries.

Hsu's account has been suspended from Twitter following her post.

Meanwhile, Chinese pop stars in South Korea also took to social media to express their support for China.

Victoria Song of f(x), Lay of EXO, Fei and Jia of miss A and Cao Lu of FIESTAR posted photos of the map of China, with a hashtag which, according to a report from Allkpop, translates to "China cannot become any smaller."

The report added that fans from other Southeast Asian countries, and even South Korea, expressed their disappointment toward the pop stars.

The hashtag started circulating online in China after the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) on Tuesday rejected China's claims to economic rights across large swathes of the South China Sea in a ruling that was claimed as a victory by the Philippines.

"There was no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the sea areas falling within the 'nine-dash line'," the court said, referring to a demarcation line on a 1947 map of the sea, which is rich in energy, mineral and fishing resources.
