In a press conference at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame on Monday, Calida said Filipinos has had enough of the drug menace that is corrupting and destroying the youth and society.
He added that there is "no need for an investigation in aid of legislation" as the country has "too many [existing] laws."
Calida also said the senator failed to address the proliferation of illegal drugs "even in her own turf, at the New Bilibid Prison, the national penitentiary" when she was justice secretary.
De Lima headed the Department of Justice during the past administration.
"If she is truly sincere to stop this drug menace, let us ask her: 'What did she do as Justice secretary in charge of the NBI, the prosecution service, and the correctional?' Hindi po ito investigation in aid of legislation. To me, I think, it is investigation in aid of media mileage," he said.
Calida also assured policemen that he will support and defend them in any congressional or senate probe.
"Why am I here? I think that's a popular line from our President. I am here to encourage the PNP not to be afraid of any congressional or senate investigation. We will defend them. If there is a fiscalizer, I am the neutralizer and the defender of the PNP so huwag kayong matakot," he said.
Senator Leila De Lima immediately called for her own presscon to answer the issues hurled against her by the Solicitor General.
