Leni finds it ‘creepy’ getting Cabinet plum exactly the same day as Jesse did six years ago.

Vice President Leni Robredo knows she owes a great deal from her late husband, former Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, whose indelible mark in society ultimately had her convinced to join politics so she cannot help but be reminded of him in many a strange way.

In a July 9 post on her official Facebook page, Robredo shared a ‘throwback post’ from her personal account about her daughter Tricia Robredo’s memory when she learned of her father’s decision to join the Cabinet of President Benigno S. Aquino III six years ago.

Curiously, it just occured to Robredo that her appointment as chairperson of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) by President Rodrigo Duterte came on July 7, exactly the same day her husband got invited to work with the Aquino administration.

“This is when it really gets “creepy” (for lack of a better term): Jesse was invited to join PNoy’s cabinet on July 7, 2010, after weeks of speculation. His formal appointment came a day or two later. I was invited to join Pres Duterte’s cabinet exactly 6 years later, July 7, 2016. This was after being proclaimed on the day of Jesse’s birthday,” Robredo was quoted saying in the post.

Robredo received the housing portfolio via a phone call from Duterte a couple of days ago when the latter suddenly found himself unable to evade media questions on whether or not he would offer her a position in his Cabinet.
